Some mud has been thrown in the race for District 2 Hinds County Supervisor. It's in the form of a nasty and negative flyer, linking Democratic candidate Darrel McQuirter with the Tea Party and the Ku Klux Klan.More >>
I must admit that I love Mississippi politics, but I despise race baiting in elections.
In the Hinds County Supervisor special election some unscrupulous coward printed fliers trying to associate Democrat candidate Darrel McQuirter, who is African American, with the Ku Klux Klan. Just because the former and current white Mayors of Clinton endorsed McQuirter.
McQuirter was the Clinton Fire Chief and had earned their respect.
Dirty tricks politics is as old as the election process itself, but race baiting is especially offensive. The vast majority of people in Mississippi have worked hard for racial reconciliation, but unfortunately it only takes a few idiots to keep prejudice alive and well.
