U.S. ready to respond to typhoon devastated Philippines

Good Monday morning from MSNewsNow's Brandon Artiles.

We've actually maintained some consistency in the temperature this fall and we begin today at 48 degrees. Meteorologist Michael Haynes will let us know what we can expect from the weather today and give us a preview of the week ahead in his First Alert Forecast.

Happening now, relief efforts are being mobilized around the world and here at home to respond to the Philippines which has been devastated by a typhoon. With the death toll at approximately 10,000, the country is reporting that thousands more are in desperate need of food and water.

Plus, family and friends of Atira Hughes-Smith and 7-year-old Jaidon Hill said their final goodbyes as the murdered mother and son were laid to rest Sunday.

Also, today we celebrate the men and women, past and present, who have fought for and defended our nation all over the world.  We'll have a rundown of Veterans Day events happening in the metro area.

And, it was another record-breaking night for the Saints.  We've got all the highlights from New Orleans.

All those stories and much more are headed your way at the top of the hour.

Please join us from 5 to 7 and for more Mississippi News Now it can be found on Fox 40 from 7 to 9.
