WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Many of you saw some kind of wintry mix fall in your area Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning.

The passage of an arctic cold front generated snow showers late Tuesday evening into early Wednesday morning. Reports of a dusting of snow and sleet were common on elevated surfaces like porches and car-tops, but road surfaces remained warm enough to preclude accumulation there.

The record for the earliest winter snowfall at Wilmington is November 14, 1934. So, pending official word from the National Weather Service Office at Wilmington Airport, this November 12 – 13 snow event should break the record!
