KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Police were kept busy overnight as they investigated a shooting and were involved in a fairly slow chase.

The shooting on Independence Avenue left one injured and police looking for a suspect.

It happened near Van Brunt about 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

The victim is expected to survive.

Police ask that anyone with information call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).

The police chase only reached speeds of 45 miles an hour.

Officers said it started when they tried to stop a vehicle on Highway 210 near U.S. 69. Police said the vehicle had expired plates and what they called "suspicious tags."

Officials had to use stop sticks to get the driver to stop. The driver and a passenger were taken into custody.
