YAZOO COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The lone suspect in the Yazoo County murder of 57-year-old Ricky Saxton has been released. Saxton was found shot multiple times some three miles east of Benton, in rural Yazoo County, last Thursday.

Saxton disappeared last Wednesday, when he went to pick up a car with his wrecker. He was in the wrecker business and bought and sold old cars.

His family first launched the search, which was joined by authorities later.

A landowner found Saxton's body next to an abandoned house in a very rural area. His wrecker was nearby.

Sheriff Jacob "Jake" Sheriff of Yazoo County told us last Friday he was questioning a suspect, but he has now had to release that suspect.

"We are back to square one," said Sheriff Sheriff. "If anybody knows anything, contact the Yazoo County Sheriff's Department."

The Sheriff had previously told us Saxton was shot behind the left ear. We have now learned he had additional gunshot wounds. The sheriff says he does not yet have autopsy information.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is also involved in the case.
