My Turn: Water Woes

City governments have to provide basic services; police, firefighters, sewer and water are probably the most important.  Water certainly has to rank up near the top. Not delivering a reliable water supply has been a major problem for the City of Jackson.

Before you start complaining about the current Mayor and City Council consider this.  There is more than 100 miles of cast iron water pipes that are more than 100 years old; this should have been addressed by Mayors and City Councils going back 25 years or more.

Each of those administrations just kicked the can down the road instead of implementing a plan to replace those 100 year old water lines and replacing other badly needed water lines beneath the 1,100 miles of city streets.

There is no better time to start a plan than right now. Boiling your water is not a plan.
