Woman charged in drive by shooting of estranged husband

WARREN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A woman is in custody in Warren County, in connection with the shooting of her estranged husband. The shooting occurred Monday around 12:45 p.m.

The sheriff's department got a 911 call from 52-year-old Billy Dale Neeley, who said he had been shot and that Mary Lou Neeley, his estranged wife, had shot him.

The 911 operator broadcast the personal and vehicle description, while keeping the victim on the line. Two deputies pulled over the suspect vehicle near the intersection of Highway 27 and Highway 80 and arrested Mary Lou Neeley. They found a handgun in her vehicle. She was in custody within 10 minutes of the call.

The shooting occurred at the victim's residence, 103 Deer Circle, in Warren County. Mary Neeley, who lives at 5122 Highway 18, in Brandon, has been charged with aggravated assault and drive by shooting. She is 58 years old.

Sheriff Martin Pace says that the wife doesn't live at home anymore, and there was no argument preceding the shooting. She just pulled into the driveway and started shooting.

Billy Neeley was in the carport area, working on his car, He collapsed, but had his cell phone with him and was able to call for help.

Neeley was airlifted to UMMC. He was hit at least once in the abdomen. No word on his condition.
