The Clinton Board of Aldermen will vote on new police policies during Tuesday night's meeting. Mayor Phil Fisher says he would like to change the beat system within the department.
Fisher says although the police response time is quick, a change would make the response time even quicker.
He says right now crime is down in Clinton, but a change of police presence is a proactive step to deter crime.
"Moving all of our patrolling units, the four units we have, closer to the citizens and the commercial districts we have in the city," said Mayor Fisher. "We want to get visibility which is really the driving force we have behind this. Visibility in these key areas so the citizens will have the comfort knowing the patrolling units are close to them."
