WARREN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Warren County man remains in critical condition at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Fifty-two year old Billy Dale Neeley called 911 Monday afternoon, saying he had just been shot by his estranged wife.

Neeley lived at 103 Deer Circle, in rural eastern Warren County. He told officers he was out working on a vehicle in the driveway when his estranged wife, Mary Neeley, drove up and starting shooting at him, without getting out of her car.

She hit him multiple times and he is listed in critical condition at the medical center in Jackson, where he was taken by helicopter ambulance.

"He was able to give 911 a vehicle description, the vehicle that Mrs. Neeley was driving," said Lt. Randy Lewis, who heads investigations for the Warren County Sheriff's Office. "Deputies were then able to intercept the vehicle at the intersection of Highway 80 and Highway 27. Mrs. Neeley was taken into custody."

Fifty-eight year old Mary Neeley was arrested at the intersection of Highways 27 and 80 in Warren County, and a handgun, believed to be a .38 caliber was confiscated.  She is charged with drive by shooting and aggravated assault.

Neeley lives in Brandon and officers say  a divorce case has been in progress for two years.
