The past two seasons have been the worst in the proud tradition of Southern Miss football. An 0-12 year followed by 1-11, has the program struggling to regain their winning ways.
With the season now over, almost all attention is on recruiting and finding a class of guys to help build the foundation back up. Coach Monken and his staff are doing what they can to keep commits even with the lack of winning on the field.
They've been able to do that with a few of the top seniors in Mississippi, such as Bassfield receiver Curtis Mikell, Ridgeland cornerback Xavier Marion and Oak Grove cornerback Picasso Nelson.
All have been committed to USM for months and all still plan to sign with the Golden Eagles in February.
