Clinton Police look for armed robbers

CLINTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Police in Clinton are looking for two men who are behind an armed robbery.

It happened Friday morning in the parking lot of the Lyons Club Park.

The Clinton Police chief who says this is the first time an armed robbery has occurred at the park.

Chief Mike Warren says, "This is a very unusual occurrence and kind of a unique set of circumstances."

Standup: Chief Warren says the victim was sitting in this parking lot, right here at Lyons Club Park. The victim had pulled over in her vehicle to make a phone call. He says that's when the armed robbery happened.

"And when she finished the phone call she noticed one of the suspects at her car door demanding her cash money. She reported they displayed a small black handgun," says Warren.

The victim, who was unharmed, gave the two men the cash she had, which Chief Warren says was a very small amount. The two men then left in an older model truck.

"Two white male suspects. They reportedly were in worn, tattered clothing. One tall and skinny with a bald or balding head. The other was a shorter more husky individual," says Warren.

The victim describes the getaway car as an older, possibly 70's model Ford light blue pickup truck.

"Blue or very fading almost white color blue pickup truck with maybe some damage to the rear end," says Warren.

Chief Warren says it is important no matter where you are to always be aware of your surroundings.

"The people around you and what their actions are. If you ever feel uncomfortable, you know go with that gut feeling and take proper precautions. A little bit of cash is not worth getting hurt or injured over," says Chief Warren.

If you have any information about these two suspects or the armed robbery you are asked to call the Clinton Police.
