Hotel workers not paid - - Jackson, MS

No checks for hotel workers on Christmas eve

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

It's going to be a blue Christmas for some employees of a north Jackson hotel. Workers at the Clarion Hotel on I-55 say they were told, last Tuesday, that everyone had to be out by noon Friday which would also be pay day. The reason? renovations.

Still no pay and it's frustrating for Dwayne Chislom who says his sister has worked and live here two years and was given two days to vacate.

Chislom said, "And this guy, the owner, Craig Goobler, or whatever his name is, I think it's Craig Goobler, stated that he would be here on Tuesday which is Christmas Eve to pay these ladies. Most of these ladies, like I said, live from pay check to pay check. My sister lives from pay check to pay check."

WLBT tried to contact Clarion Hotel management for comment, but there was only a recording stating "the mailbox number that you are trying to reach is not in service. Goodbye".

Employees tell us they have contacted legal representation.
