JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Our year end review of big stories in 2013 includes the arrest and conviction of former meteorologist Eric Law.

In March, the meteorologist was arrested and charged with two counts each of sexual battery and gratification of lust.

The victim was a 15 year old girl.

The relationship apparently began with Facebook messages between Law and the teenager.

Following his arrest he was suspended from WLBT.

In the end, Law faced a judge and admitted his crime. He pleaded guilty to one count of sexual battery.

With his wife and family in tears in the courtroom, Law was taken into custody and then taken to prison.

He was sentenced to serve 20 years with 12 years of that time suspended.

In the end he's set to do eight years behind bars and will be labeled a sex offender for the rest of his life.

His wife, Kristina, said this is just one more loss in a very long list of losses. "We lost his career, we lost our home, lost all of the people we know and love."

The District Attorney said the punishment fits the crime.
