TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The clock is ticking for new homeowners associations who want to regulate street parking.

New HOAs declared after Dec. 31 will not be able to regulate parking on public streets.  This means no HOA policies or fines against you or your guests who park in front of your house.  This only goes for new associations.  Current ones keep their rules regarding parking.  But the board President of Continental Ranch says this law could eventually influence parking rules within current HOAs.

The governor approved the law last spring.

"I think that's going to create a whole lot of issues for HOA attorneys who are taking people to court for violations when you have people who are in other HOAs who are not getting cited for parking on the same town owned or city on the streets," said John Lambert, president of the Continental Ranch board of directors.
