Clinton WWII Veteran and home builder dies at 98

CLINTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Joseph Carter passed away Monday at his home in Clinton. Carter was featured on the Veterans History Project back in 2008.

He was a supply officer in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He served in North Africa and the Mediterranean.

He was inducted into the National Home Builders Association Hall of Fame for his many accomplishments as a home builder of over 60 years. Carter was 98 years old.

His son Joseph says his father passed away comfortably in his own home, in his bed, and in his sleep. He was alert and aware until the very end.

He was survived by 7 children, 16 grand children, 18 great grand children, and 4 great-great grand children.

Visitation will be held at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton on Thursday from 5-8pm. Donations can be sent to the J. E. Carter nursing scholarship fund, Box 4005, Clinton, MS 39058.
