FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Florence County investigators discovered a dangerous meth lab on Cummings Road Thursday afternoon.
Capt. Mike Nunn says the shake-and-bake-style meth lab was found in a mobile home after a two-month investigation allowed deputies to obtain a search warrant.
Capt. Nunn says investigators found out about the meth operation after a citizen complaint was given to the Florence County Sheriff's Office.
Four arrests have been made: 21-year-old Ashley Hunsucker, 24-year-old Brittany Graves, 33-year-old Laney Graves, and 26-year-old Phillip Johnson were each charged with manufacture, distribution, etc. or metaphor.
The Howe Springs Fire Department was on the scene to help with controlling any hazardous material. The contents inside had the potential to be highly explosive.
A meth lab specialist and SLED investigators were called in to evaluate the contaminated home and determined it must be condemned.
Nunn says besides the harmful and destructive nature meth brings to its users –an operation like Thursday's bust, is destructive to anyone in the area.
"Very much prone to fire and explosions and the area where the meth is being manufactured is contaminated, and unfit for human habitation after that," said Nunn.
In five years, there have only been three other meth manufacturing operations busted in Florence County," said Nunn
This investigation is ongoing, and investigators say more arrests are possible.
