Failed! - - Jackson, MS

Happy Friday from MSNewsNow's Brandon Artiles!

The polar vortex is a thing of the past and we're starting the day at 44 degrees. We need to be on the lookout for some rain and meteorologist Michael Haynes will let us know when that's expected to move in. Also in the First Alert Forecast, for you marathon runners he'll let you know what the conditions will be like for your big run Saturday morning.

Happening now, educators and lawmakers in Mississippi are looking for answers after a national publication gave Mississippi a failing grade on the state's education report card. Now, Magnolia State leaders are trying to come up with a solution and we'll talk about what they have in mind at the top of the hour.

Plus, two people were shot in broad daylight at a Jackson park and now police are trying to hunt down the gunmen and thieves.

And, it's Friday which means Julie Levanway pays us a visit to whip up something Fresh From the Flame.  Soup anyone?

Please join us from 5 to 7 and have a great weekend!
