Former JSU and NFL star, Harold Jackson is headed back to his alma mater. Monday morning he was named the new head football coach for Jackson State University. Jackson, 68-years-old, was a five-time All-Pro wide receiver and also coached for 10-years in the NFL.
Jackson, a Mississippi native, said he was glad to come back home and his priorities would be player development and local recruitment.
"I'm going to put the excitement and product on the field," Jackson said. "Our players will have discipline in the classroom and on the competition level. Our football players will be developed as good citizens."
JSU President Carolyn W. Meyers said Jackson was chosen based on his experience and his commitment to player development and academic achievement for scholar-athletes.
