CLAIBORNE COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A 32-year-old man has been gunned down in Claiborne County on his way home from work, and authorities have his accused killer in custody.

Sheriff Marvin Lucas says Eric Hyder had gotten off work this afternoon in Vicksburg. He caught a ride to Claiborne County, and was walking home along Y Camp Road off Grand Gulf Road around 3:20.

Twenty-year-old Marque West reportedly drove up in a car, got out with a gun and shot Hyder. West was arrested about five hours later without incident.

There is no word on a motive for the murder but Sheriff Lucas says the two men were neighbors.
