MESQUITE, NV (FOX5) -

A man accused of holding an ex-girlfriend captive at a Nevada motel for six months was slated to appear in court on Wednesday.

According to Mesquite police, Jason Greniger, 34, was taken into custody on Saturday after officers were called of a possible kidnapping at the MV Motel.

An arrest report showed Greniger was staying at the motel with Sheena Herschbach who, police said, appeared to be scared but relieved when officers showed up.

"I was scared that he was going to kill me," said Herschbach to FOX5. "The most painful part was when he would hit me in the head and keep on and wouldn't stop."

Police said the woman told officers she had been held against her will by her ex-boyfriend Greniger, who had picked her up from her home in California. The woman said the man then threatened to harm or kill her and her family if she escaped.

The woman also told police she had a protection order filed against Greniger.

Police said the woman was held captive for six months.

During the six months, she told police Greniger allowed her to get beer at a grocery store and, earlier that day, go to the library, where she was able to use social media for help.

"I was relieved," said Herschbach. "I was already stressed out. I then come to find out my mom passed away a month ago and it just put me down more. I wish I would have never listened to him to beg me to come back. It's not worth the pain."

According to documents, Greniger told officers he went by another name, but police were able to confirm his identity through his physical appearance and tattoos. It wasn't until he was being booked that he admitted to being Jason Greniger.

Police detained Greniger on an outstanding warrant out of Minnesota for first-degree malicious punishment of a child. Greniger was then booked on felony second-degree kidnapping. He was being held at Clark County Detention Center.

Greniger's hearing was scheduled for 10 a.m. in Mesquite Municipal Court.
