Store owner speaks after robbery & fire

Good Wednesday morning from MSNewsNow's Brandon Artiles!

Who's the new girl? You'll notice in the First Alert weather center a new face today. Don't miss Julia Wieden's debut and help us make her feel welcome. It's 47 degrees and Julia will walk us through the day's weather in her First Alert Forecast.

Happening now, a Jackson convenience store owner is happy to be alive after being robbed by gunmen, but he's left picking up the pieces of his burned-out business. We spoke with the man, and at the top of the hour he'll tell us what happened when the chaos began Monday night.

Plus, the voters have spoken. Starting in March when you buy certain items in Jackson you can expect to pay one-percent more in sales tax. We'll see how close the vote was in the WLBT AM Report.

And, it's the moment some Madison Countians have been eagerly anticipating and some business owners have been dreading: the Walmart in Canton opens today. Jewell Hillery will join us live from Canton to see if they are doing anything to mark the occasion.

Those stories and much more are heading your way.

Please join us from 5 to 7 and Mississippi News Now continues on FOX 40 from 7 to 9.

Have a great Wednesday!
