An elderly Warren County couple has been released from the hospital this morning after being shot during a home invasion Tuesday night.
Sheriff Martin Pace says two men forced their way into the home on Shenandoah Road when the couple heard a noise in the carport and opened the door.
The home invaders demanded cash, and stole a television, then shot both in the head with a small caliber gun.
Pace says investigators don't know what type of gun or projectile was fired, adding that they didn't know the couple had been shot until they went to the hospital and got x-rays.
"We had two African American males, one slightly taller than the other one. One wearing a camouflage jumpsuit or overalls and armed with some type of long gun possibly a rifle," said Sheriff Pace.
Family members declined to talk on camera, but they said the unidentified couple would do anything to help anyone. They spend their free time translating bibles for people who don't speak English.
The Warren County Sheriffs department has dedicated a team of investigators to solving the home invasion and shooting of the couple.
Sheriff Pace said, "This case will be solved, we are pursing this literally around the clock. Were going to resolve this. We want the public to know that were doing everything we possibly can to resolve this as quickly as possible. Again were asking for the publics assistance in this case."
The public is being asked to provide any tips on the case by calling the sheriffs office at 601-636-1761 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477.
