Englishman paddles Miss. River raising money for children's hospital

VICKSBURG, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Brit crosses the pond to paddle down the Mississippi River, raising money along the way for a children's hospital.

Kevin Brady is from Gloucester England and set out canoe the length of the Mighty Mississippi.

He started 124 days ago in Lake Itaska in northern Minnesota.

We caught up with him Saturday in Vicksburg.

Brady is gathering donations for The Pied Piper Appeal, the children's ward of the Gloucester Hospital.

So far he had paddled 1,900 miles.

The English fundraiser had no experience when he began the quest.

He is helped along the way by "River Angels" who contact him on social media and give him a warm place to stay between stops.

"I just had a bit of a craving for adventure as well with no canoeing experience at all, well two days worth when I decided to do it. I decided this is gonna be an adventure for me," said Brady.

Brady has 450 miles to go until he reaches the Gulf of Mexico.
