Affidavits state a 53-year-old woman used a "camping style" folding saw to remove the legs of a 54-year-old man at a home in Summerville.
According to court records released Thursday afternoon, Nancy Bentley also attempted to remove the arms and head from Roy Steward's body at a home on 1925 Bacons Bridge Road between Jan. 3 and Jan. 18.
Authorities say Bentley placed Steward's remains into the trunk of Steward's vehicle.
Court records state that Bentley provided a statement to the events that took place.
A judge denied bond for Bentley Thursday afternoon citing the circumstances of the charges. Authorities charged Bentley with obstruction of justice and desecration of human remains in connection with the Tuesday night discovery of Steward's body which was found cut up in three bags.
Officials with the Dorchester County Coroner's Office said they believe Steward died around Jan. 2. According to Coroner Chris Nisbet, Steward was last seen alive on Dec. 30.
Nisbet says at this point, Steward's cause of death is still unknown.
It all started last Saturday when Dorchester County deputies pulled Bentley over during a traffic stop. It turned out the car she was driving, belonged to Steward, her boyfriend. At that time, Bentley was charged with driving erratically.
The vehicle was then taken to an impound lot on Trolley Road and then to the sheriff's office. Bentley bonded out of jail Sunday and went to the lot where the car was first towed to try to get the car back, but the people at the lot told her they could only release it to the owner, who was Steward.
Three days later on Tuesday, deputies found Steward's body parts stuffed into trash bags in the trunk of the car.
And that's not all they found.
A source told Live 5 News' Harve Jacobs that investigators also found a hand saw, described as a big pocket knife, a receipt from a Target store for trash bags, tarps and rope. As well as some bottles of Clorox cleanup.
Earlier this month, the Summerville Police Department said one of their officers responded to 1926 Bacons Bridge Road on Jan. 14 for a welfare check on Steward, after his brother in Texas, Edward Steward, said he was concerned for his brother after not having spoken to him since Dec. 25, 2013.
The officer said he spoke to Bentley who told him Steward left "7 or 8 days ago" and took a bus to visit his brother in Texas, and did not have any way to get in touch with him.
When officers told Edward Steward what Bentley had told them, officers say Edward Steward was shocked, and said he had no idea his brother was coming to visit him. Steward then asked if his brother's white Honda vehicle and dog were at the home to which police said they were still present at the home.
Authorities say Steward became more concerned and asked if police could check inside the home for his brother.
When the officer returned to the home and asked Bentley where Roy Steward was again, Bentley told the officer that he had left "6 or 7 days ago to see his brother in Texas." The officer then asked Bentley how Steward was traveling to Texas if his vehicle was at the home.
Bentley told officers that Steward's friend "Doug" came to the home and picked him up. According to Bentley, "Doug" drove a brown Yukon or truck and possibly lived in Goose Creek.
Authorities say Bentley could not provide further information and refused to let the officer inside her home. A police report states, Bentley said her house was "filthy."
The officer said from what he could see, the inside of the home appeared to be clean and in order. According to the officer, he also smelled what seemed to be the odor of trash coming from inside the home.
According to investigators, the officer pleaded with Bentley for several minutes to let him inside, but she refused.
