While the website looks official, John O'Hara with the Better Business Bureau says all it really amounts to is: "$17.00 a pop from people for information they can get for free....I'm probably going to get a book telling me how to register get my license renewed here in the state of Mississippi which is free information."
If you look carefully you will find the website is clearly marked with disclaimers saying it is private and not associated with a government agency.
The Better Business Bureau says steer clear and don't buy into this.
The Department of Public Safety says they have contacted the Attorney General's cyber crimes division. And the BBB is alerting the FBI cyber crimes unit.
Warren Strain, DPS spokesman sent us this email Thursday with the Mississippi government links for drivers license renewal. Strain wrote, "The best advice we can give is to make sure a person is on the Department of Public Safety's official website, which can be accessed at www.dps.state.ms.usor www.ms.govor www.mississippi.gov."
