Flurries come to an end... What's next?

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Some folks went to bed with flurries in the air last night! The highest amount spotted on the ground was about an inch and a half, although most who saw snow only had a coating to half an inch. Take it easy driving this morning, especially those south of Jackson, as the roads are slick in spots. We've already heard reports of minor accidents due to the tricky travel conditions.

The radar tries to give us additional flurries in areas like Natchez, Brookhaven, and McComb through the morning, but the air is just far too dry for it to amount to much. No additional accumulation is expected, despite the flake or two you might spot.

Sunshine increases from north to south across the state throughout the day, but the thermometer won't be influenced much. We're stuck in the 30s today! The winds are light though, and we'll warm up to normal temps for the weekend. Don't get too comfortable though- another cold snap is in store next week. We'll keep you updated.
