DAVE'S FORECAST: How long will the snow and ice hang around?

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The snow is moving out, after leaving a dusting to 2 inches across the metro area.

North of Jackson, there wasn't much to talk about as just a few flurries fell.  South of the metro, we saw sleet, ice and snow mixed for much of the day.

Clearing skies, with temperatures dropping tonight into the teens, roads will remain slippery in areas where the snow was able to accumulate.

Melting will happen during the day Wednesday as sunshine pushes the temperature barely above freezing during the afternoon.  Wind chills overnight and into the morning will be in the single digits.

The wind won't be a factor, but the cold will tomorrow night as lows again fall into the teens.

Thursday gives us sunshine and near 50 degree weather with us warming to near 70 with some rain by this weekend.
