(WMC-TV) - Memphian Kameron Whalum will experience Super Bowl XLVIII halftime from the center stage at New York City's MetLife Stadium with Multiple Grammy-award winning Pop Star Bruno Mars.

"It's real exciting," said the background singer and trumpet player. "I would say it's a dream come true, but I've never even thought about it. It's like above my dreams I've dreamed about, but I'm real excited."

The weather adjustment is something he started to deal with four days ago when rehearsal started. But the tiring practice for a performance reaching millions of people remains fun, which is why Whalum says it is worth it.

"Dancing, singing, just having fun having a good time. It's gonna be fun for everybody," he said.

Meanwhile, back home in Memphis, Whalum's parents will be watching.

"We're always praying for him. We 're excited. Sunday is actually my birthday so it's the best gift I could ever ask for. So I'm just thankful to God for what he's done for my sons, in particular Kameron at this point," said the mother, Sheila.

Whalum will be bringing his own talents to Memphis for a concert at the Hard Rock Café on Beale February 7. Bruno Mars will appear for the first time at FedexForum on June 6.
