Two suspects charged for Attala Co murder

ATTALA COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Charges have been filed with two suspects arrested in connection with the murder of 67-year-old Tony Blankenship.

According to Attala County Sheriff Tim Nail, Kayla Lee, a 27-year-old white female from Attala County, was arrested late Monday night. Demetrins Brinkley, a 25-year-old black male from Greenwood, was arrested at around 3:00 am Tuesday.

Both Lee and Brinkley have been charged with Capital Murder and are being held in the Attala County Jail. No bond has yet been set.

Officials stopped by the home on a welfare check. They say that upon arrival, Blankenship was found dead.

The cause of death seems to be from gun shot wounds that officials say appeared to have happened Saturday night.

More details will be confirmed pending the results of the autopsy.
