JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Brandon pastor is free on bond after being arrested and charged last week with identity theft.

53-year-old Leonard Boddie is the pastor of Greater New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, on Shiloh Road.

Boddie prepared taxes for the victim whose identity he allegedly stole. We are told that he was able to use her information to purchase two vehicles from a local car dealership.

Boddie was able to use the victim's checking account information to make car payments. Once the victim's account became delinquent, the dealership notified the her.

The victim told the dealership that she didn't own two BMW's. That's how they were able to track the suspect.

Boddie could be facing additional charges.  He was arrested and charged with one count of identity theft.

Hinds County Sheriff's Department spokesman Othor Cain says Boddie was released on $25-thousand bond Monday.

JPD is investigating the case.
