Seeing RED

Happy Friday morning folks and congratulations on making it to the weekend! Almost there, anyway.

This is MSNewsNow's Brandon Artiles and you're waking up to 25 degrees. Well, our winter wardrobes have seen plenty of action this week, and we cross our fingers for even the slightest warm-up. Meteorologist Julia Weiden will let us know if we can expect one anytime soon in her First Alert Forecast.

Happening now, the battle-lines in the fight against the number-one killer of women in the U.S. have been drawn, and that's why millions across the country will "Go Red" for women today. Jewell Hillery will join us live to show us how local organizations are standing up for our mothers, sisters and daughters by raising awareness for heart disease.

Plus, Jackson Police are on the hunt for an Ole Miss student.  Investigators believe the Rebel is one seen in surveillance video holding-up a clerk at a Kangaroo convenience store with a shotgun on Wednesday morning.

And, let the games begin! The Winter Olympics in Sochi have actually already started, but opening ceremonies are slated for today.  We'll bring you a preview in a live report from Russia at 6 AM.

All those stories and much more are heading your way at the top of the hour.

Please join us from 5 to 7 and you can find more Mississippi News Now on FOX 40 from 7 to 9.

Have a great Friday and a better weekend!
