(WMC-TV) - A 13-year-old boy died of a heart attack after playing basketball with friends.

Jennifer Scales of Myrtle, Miss. never thought she would be burying her own child Jaylon Glover at only 13 years old.

"It was the most hurtful thing I ever had to do in my life, but he wasn't only my child he was God's child, and God called him home," said Scales. "I said God gave him to us for 13 years, you know. That might've been God 's answer: I'm going[to let] you all have him for a while, and then I'm going to take him home to me."

Jaylon collapsed on the basketball court at Myrtle Methodist Church last Monday. For two days Jaylon suffered after a massive heart attack. There was also swelling on his brain. On Wednesday his fight was over.

"It was a hard decision that I had to do, but they had told there was nothing else they could do. Life support was keeping him alive," said Scales.

The hallways of Myrtle Attendance Center will never know the footsteps of its beloved Jaylon again.

"It's devastating. It's the most unreal feeling that you could ever have. They are your own," said principal Nancy Yates. "Just one if those kids that, every day, made you smile ... Made you understand what life was all about."

All of the children in the three-school county district came together and raised $600. The community presented Jaylon's mother with more than $3,000.
