MEMA: 2 deaths attributed to winter weather

PEARL, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi officials say at least two people were killed in traffic wrecks as the state deals with another round of winter weather.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said Tuesday it has received reports of two weather-related traffic deaths - one in Lowndes County and one in Carroll County. The agency had no further details.

In a news release, Gov. Phil Bryant expressed sympathy to the families of those killed. He also urged Mississippians to stay off the roads if possible.

The National Weather Service is warning of anywhere from one to four inches of snow in North Mississippi; a quarter to one inch of ice and up to two inches of snow in Mississippi Delta counties and a wintry mix of rain and freezing rain in Central and East Mississippi.
