Officials in Warren county are on standby, ready for whatever old man winter throws at them Tuesday night. Warren county E-M-A Director John Elfer met with weather service officials after his county was included in the winter storm warning Tuesday afternoon.
"Mother natures going to be mother nature," said Elfer. "We can't predict exactly what will happen, but we have a good idea what we need to respond to. Were prepared to get out there on the roadways, our local law enforcement and state agencies are prepared to respond to any emergencies that might happen."
Up to an inch of ice could form in some places, which could cause power outages. County and city officials continue to monitor the weather. Freezing rain was reported in Vicksburg just after sunset.
The Vicksburg-Warren County School District has already canceled classes for tomorrow.
The main threat from the storm will be power outages, from utility lines weighed down with ice, or tree limbs falling on them.
Entergy called their customers Tuesday evening, reminding them to be patient if they go in the dark, and that they expected widespread outages.
To report an outage, residents can call 1-800-9-OUTAGE.
