JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Jackson Police department says they believe they may know who's responsible for a double homicide in Jackson, Monday night.

"During the course of the investigation Robbery/Homicide Detectives were able to establish a suspect in this case and he is identified as Mr. Melvin C. Gibson. There are active warrants for his arrest for two counts of Murder and one count of Aggravated Assault relating to this matter."

Gibson is also connected to a triple shooting investigation back in 2011. During the investigation Gibson was charged as a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Earlier Tuesday the Hinds County Coroner released the names of two people killed in the shooting.

34-year-old Jeremy Forrest and 24-year-old Taft Weathersby were found shot to death inside a home in the 100 block of Elcrest Street, in west Jackson.

The shooting happened around 8pm, and is still under investigation.

We're told they each had a single gunshot to their head.

Jackson Police officer Colendula Green say a third shooting victim is alive, and at a Jackson area hospital.
