My Turn: Appointed School Superintendents

The legislature has once again failed to pass a bill that would require school districts to appoint their school superintendents instead of electing them.

School Superintendents need to be highly qualified professionals to manage the education of students in their district.

When you elect a school superintendent they must live in the district. That severely limits the candidates to choose from.

They must politic for the job; politics and education are a bad combination.

All I can say is that the school superintendents must have a very good lobbyist.
