JULIA'S FORECAST: Love is in the air... and soon rain will be too!

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Happy Valentine's Day!

Overall, it's going to pan out to be a pretty nice one. That said, we do have a chance for rain showers in the forecast, so it's a good idea to keep the umbrella on hand with you, although you won't need it for the majority of the day.

Otherwise, we're looking at comfortably warm temperatures with highs in the mid 60s this afternoon. Clouds will be on the increase through the day as a cold front approaches from the northwest. By mid afternoon, folks in the northern portion of the state and in the Delta can expect scattered rain to begin. For the immediate Jackson metro, showers are more likely as we head into the dinnertime hours. This will continue progressing southeastward, clearing as we head into the night.

Behind the front we can expect slightly cooler temperatures in the mid to high 50s for Saturday. We'll have warmer temps for Sunday, with a good deal of sunshine both days.

The start of the work week will be warm, but wet. We'll track chances for rain over the next several days, so stay tuned.
