Teachers don't always get the pats on the back they deserve, that's why the Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership hosts the annual metro teacher recognition luncheon. They've been doing it for 19 years now.
Nomination forms are sent to all public, private and parochial kindergarten through 12th grade schools. The program was not created to select the best teacher, rather to showcase some of the metro area's great educational talent.
One of the honorees, Dr. Diane Smith, said, "It's a really pivotal moment in my career as a teacher and I'm just so excited to be recognized after 22 years in the field of education."
Brad Maley, president of the North Metro BancorpSouth branch said, "Their accomplishments are...dedication and passion is un-paralleled. They open up their hearts and their minds to our young students and they're the most important part of molding our future, so we're very happy to be apart of today's luncheon."
BancorpSouth has been the sponsor of this event for 9-years.
