Tornado watch issued for north and south shores

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A tornado watch has been issued for both side of Lake Pontchartrain and will remain in effect until 3 a.m. Friday.

Today became the warmest day of the year as we briefly touched 80 degrees. The balmy temperatures precede a cold front that will bring us showers and some thunderstorms this evening through midnight, with all showers gone before daybreak.

The strongest storms should stay well north of Lake Pontchartrain.  Slightly cooler and drier air will spread in for Friday and Saturday before another weak front brings back clouds and a few showers on Sunday.

Sunday will warm back into the 70s with cooler air returning for much of next week.
