A Ridgeland home went up in flames overnight Saturday after firefighters first attacked a blaze in the home earlier in the day.
Ridgeland Police Sgt. Jeff Thames said the second fire started around 2:45 a.m. Sunday at 300 Longmeadow Drive.
No one was home, but the brick structure is a total loss.
Ridgeland firefighters were first called to the home around 2:30 p.m. Saturday for a kitchen fire.
Thames said that blaze was extinguished and confined to the kitchen.
Electricity was cut to the home, and residents left.
Investigators are trying to determine what caused the second fire.
