Mourning the mayor - - Jackson, MS

Mourning the mayor

Good Thursday morning from MSNewsNow's Brandon Artiles!

Right when you thought we were out we get pulled back in. I'm talking about the cold and we're not finished with it yet. It's 26 degrees right now and meteorologist Julia Weiden will let us know when things will warm-up again in her First Alert Forecast.

Happening now, groups across the city of Jackson continue to mourn the death of Mayor Chokwe Lumumba. We'll take you to vigils throughout the Capital City where the 66-year-old was remembered.

Plus, as for Lumumba's elected successor a date will be determined and we'll let you know when that's scheduled.

Also, unrest in the Ukraine continues as pro-Russian forces take the fight to anti-government protestors.

Those stories and more are heading your way on the WLBT AM Report.

Please join us from 5 to 7 and have a great Friday eve!
