JULIA'S FORECAST: Very cold & windy today

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

After a warm and sunny finish to our weekend, our weather has taken a sharp turn. Last night, our temperatures dropped 28 degrees in a matter of 45 minutes! On top of that we had rain, high gusting winds (up to 63 mph in Flowood!) and even some wintry precip in areas well north of Jackson. Keep in mind, there could be slick spots on the roads along with downed branches. Stay alert during your commute!

Thankfully, all of that active weather is now out of our region. For the morning commute, there could be some areas of freezing mist in the Delta, but most have dried out. The bigger issues for everyone are the wind and the cold. The thermometer won't rise much this afternoon, only into the upper 30s by afternoon. However, with winds NW 10-25 mph all day, it will only feel like upper 20s and low 30s.

We're cold again tonight, in the upper 20s. Mid 40s for Tuesday, and a few rain showers are possible for areas I-20 and south. A few could see some sleet mix in.
