FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

Students, university officials and communitymembers officially opened the newest building at the University of NorthAlabama.

"The Commons" student center brings a varietyof services to the campus, including dining options such as Chick-fil-A andStarbucks, and a branch of Listerhill Credit Union.

The center will also serve as the mainacademic center for study groups and tutoring. Officials hope the building willgive back to more than just students.

"We're absolutely thrilled that we have avenue now that's dedicated to student success but also brings the universityand community together. We have a gathering place with marvelous venues," saidUniversity President Dr. William Cale.

Construction of the building took a littlemore than one year to complete.

    Surveillance cameras captured someone opening fire at a gas station in Jasper. Police are looking for one of the people they said opened fire on Friday night, while the other is still in a hospital.
