Chief Warrant Officer Brad Carpenter couldn't wait to be a part of a special operation to surprise his daughter upon returning from active duty.

"Oh I'm super excited. Been traveling for the past two days, on my way back home from the fourth and final deployment. So here to surprise my daughter, she has no idea I'm here right now," said Carpenter.

When Brad left for Kuwait close to a year ago, his daughter Kimberly gave him a stuffed puppy. It was a symbol that would remind him of her. So when Brad found out he was coming home, he thought why not return the favor?

"He said, 'Mother if we give Kimberly the puppy, she will know I'm close, real close!' And I just think this is awesome. I'm so glad to have him home," said Elaine McDaniel.

Brad surprised his daughter at a local Olive Garden Monday night. When Kimberly opened her present, she realized very quickly the gift wasn't in the bag.

"Daddy must be home," said Kimberly. "I think it's a really big pleasure because he came home two days early."

To say Brad's military career has been distinguished would be an understatement. He's fought in more countries then you can count, and he was one of two Alabama soldiers that helped capture Saddam Hussein.

But the honor of having his little girl in his arms is something no one can beat.

"It's unbelievable. Every other time I've come home it was great. But I'm poised to retire now," said Carpenter.
