JULIA'S FORECAST: A rainy start to the day

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

It's a wet start to our Thursday with widespread rain working its way across central Mississippi. This batch of showers will continue to progress eastward, allowing heavy downpours to ease over the metro by midday. Any additional rain will be rather spotty throughout the afternoon.

In terms of temperature, it's cool out once more. Highs today likely won't come up above 50°. Winds are northerly, around 5-15mph.

Fortunately, today is the last of the cool and rainy days, at least for the next week. Friday will feature plenty of blue in the sky and temperatures at more comfortable levels in the low 60s. Much of the weekend will be spent in the 60s as well, with highs reaching towards 70.

Don't forget- Daylight Saving Time begins this weekend! Set the clocks forward one hour before bedtime on Saturday night.

It's still far out, but the next chance for widespread rain and thunder is on Wednesday. We'll keep you updated as we watch the system unfold.
