Lumumba family releases statement to public

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

 

On Thursday, the family of Mayor Chokwe Lumumba released a statement to the public regarding the support of the Jackson community and the nation after the death of their father. The statement is as follows:

The Lumumba Family is humbled and comforted by the overwhelming outpouring of love and support that we've received over the past several days. Our beloved father truly believed in loving and serving people and dedicated his life to doing both.

We vow to continue his legacy of advocacy and service in everything we do. These few words
fail to express our sincere appreciation for every prayer, kind thought, and generous act we've
received from all over the nation.

Thank you sincerely for embracing us at this difficult time.

We invite the community to join us as we celebrate the life of our beloved father. The memorial
schedule is as follows:
