MADISON COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
The search for 2-year-old Myra Lewis has ended for tonight, and in a day filled with lots of activity, there's still a lot we don't know. Lewis has been missing since last Saturday.
Authorities closed Mt. Pilgrim Road all day so law enforcement officers could conduct a more thorough search. We know that the missing child's parents live on that road, but authorities did give us any other details.
We were able to get a better look with Skycopter earlier Friday and found them using a compact track loader digging around the Lewis home. We don't know if they found anything, but they dug in several places along the perimeter of the home.
A few hours later, authorities finally reopened Mt. Pilgrim Road, and we were able to go down the road and see the law enforcement staging area for the first time today. The staging area was set up at a church on that road.
Authorities from the DWFP, Madison County Sheriff's Office, and others were still on scene. The would not tells us if they found anything but they're expected to resume the search Saturday morning.
