Police catch suspect in string of mobile home burglaries

RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Monday, January 13, officers with Ridgeland Police Department responded to two residential burglaries within Harbor Pines mobile home community on Lake Harbor Drive.

We are told that the burglaries were committed during daylight hours and they were able to enter the home by forcing a door open. The list of items determined to be stolen included electronics, small tools and hand held computers.

On January 24 and February 18 Ridgeland PD officers responded to the same mobile home community on additional reported residential burglaries with the same method of operation and similar items stolen.

Investigators tell us they were able to gather information through working with the Rankin County Sheriff's Department that lead them to a suspect.

On Friday, March 7, officials arrested 35-year-old Bruce Donell Shannon on two counts of residential burglary. Shannon turned himself in to Ridgeland PD after learning of the outstanding arrest warrant.

Subsequent interviews by investigators led to a confession by Shannon on all reported burglaries.

We are told that he is currently being held under no bond in the Madison County Detention Center on 4 counts of residential burglary. Shannon is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, March 18, at 1:30 pm.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ridgeland Police Department. Questions should be directed to Lt. John R. Neal, Commander of Criminal Investigations at 601-856-5210.
