Pearl gas prices going up

PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

If you live in Pearl, you may have noticed that your gas prices are a little higher this week. We checked a few stations Wednesday and saw a range of $3.19 to $3.24 in one area.

Prices nationwide have been on the rise for the past few weeks, and the rise is expected to continue through most of March.

"I do suspect that March will probably deliver the largest increases," Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst at GasBuddy, told CNBC. "I think they top out, and then I think they drop back."

Even with the recent increases, Mississippi has the second cheapest gas in the nation at an average of $3.21 per gallon. According to Gas Buddy, only South Carolina has cheaper gas.

A month ago, the Mississippi average gas price was $3.096.
