MS State vs. Ole Miss in SEC Tournament - - Jackson, MS

Mississippi State leads Ole Miss at the half

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Mississippi State Bulldogs scored the first 10 points of the game and held the lead the rest of the half. The Rebels could get no closer than four and trail by nine, 44-35.

Fred Thomas scored 13 points to lead the Bulldogs. Marshall Henderson and Jarvis Summers lead the Rebels with nine each.

The big difference is field goal percentage. The Dogs are shooting 58% from the floor, the Rebels just 37%.

The Rebels still have slim hopes of making it into the NCAA. They have 18 wins and if they can make it to the tournament semi-finals, they would have 20 wins and a pretty strong finish.

At 14-18, about the only way the Bulldogs can advance is to win the tournament.

In tournament games earlier today, Missouri beat Texas A&M 91-83 in double overtime, South Carolina eliminated Arkansas, 74-56 and LSU outlasted Alabama 68-56.

The winner of tonight's game will face Georgia in the Quarterfinals.
